The International Energy Agency has identified energy efficiency as the ‘first fuel’ – the ‘fuel' we should be turning to first to solve our energy crisis. Its a resource that Australia has barely begun to tap into, but good policy is crucial to unlocking its potential.

The Energy Efficiency Council is Australia’s peak body for the energy efficiency and demand management sector, its mission is to make sensible, cost effective energy efficiency measures standard practice across the Australian economy. The Council engages closely with governments at the State and Federal level to provide evidence based advice on how to unlock the energy efficiency opportunity.

In 2016 the Council released the landmark Australian Energy Efficiency Policy Handbook, an accessible, comprehensive guide to energy efficiency policy across every sector of the Australian economy. Now the Energy Efficiency Council is preparing a ‘best practice guide’ on global energy efficiency policy, which will provide commentary and case studies on the best and most effective energy efficiency policies and programs from around the world.

The new guide is slated for release in November 2017, but you can join us a for a exclusive preview from the EEC’s CEO, Luke Menzel.
