What makes a Sustainability Leader?

If you are like many EPF members and the committee you may have wondered what makes a leader in sustainability? How does someone rise above the everyday politics to delivering for their business whilst also staying true to their core values or do they trade them off in order to get that promotion or avoid conflict?  How do they handle stress, rejection and the usual things you can expect with being a true sustainability leader?

All these questions and much more were explored at the recent EPF event on the 3rd of November where over 50 members came together to hear the personal stories of three unique and passionate individuals.

I personally was astounded by the real honest insights and calibre of the presentations and discussions.  Mark Lyster has been doing this for much longer than people can remember and his story to leave a large consulting firm to recently start his new business Action Sustainability is truly inspiring. Laura Hamilton spoke so passionately about her personal story and the need to remain resilient and to look after yourself is something that we all need to look out for.  Finally to hear Greg Johnson’s story fresh from coming off a Social Leadership course and his purpose gave everyone a shot in the arm of much needed motivation to succeed.

You also know you have a good event when you have to call and end to questions and a large majority of members hung around till the very end and we ended up next door for a couple of more hours carrying on the discussion.

We look forward to seeing you at our final gathering for 2016, pre-holiday drinks at the Two Wolves Cantina, 202 Broadway Chippendale. (The only panel at this event will be those holding court at the bar (-:
